Company & Position Background

Life Spine is a high growth medical device manufacturer and direct marketer of orthopedics & neurosurgical spine products. With a wealth of capital and proprietary product technologies, we are seeking a Product Manager to cultivate the company's spinal implant offering.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the continued growth of the company through the management of the products from conception through target sales milestones. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of upstream and downstream marketing, including NEW product concept development & implementation, trade shows, forecasting/planning, market intelligence, prototype clinical testing, product launches, and current/future product sales trending and growth analysis. We are seeking an individual that has the ability to multitask non-related projects.

The candidate must possess technical abilities to interact with both outside medical professionals and our in house engineering staff in an effort to define new products and to ensure that the current projects are concordant with the launch dates, design parameters, and COG that have been forecasted. This person will work closely with and play an integral role with our in house engineering teams, outside sales force, and the President of the company. The candidate must have a track record of building and cultivating relationships with key physicians. Prior issued patents, sales and/or marketing management experience (in spine) will heavily weight consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the planning and implementation of strategic and business plans and the overall management of the product portfolio. Includes the development of launch plans, sales promotional materials, advertising, surgical protocols and sales training. Works closely with the Director of Marketing, the domestic/international sales organization, engineering and other operations to execute on strategies and plans.
  2. Provide project management leadership on cross-functional project teams that will bring new products and technologies to market. Also responsible for the daily management of the product and project teams.
  3. Coach, facilitate, train, motivate and develop team members to achieve business goals and attain individual growth and satisfaction. The Product Manager will review the organization, staffing and resource needs to ensure they are consistent and adequate for attainment of company objectives.
  4. Work closely with the Surgeons and Regulatory Affairs to coordinate the attainment of clinical studies/study publications, testing and other documentation necessary for the regulatory aspects of product submissions and promotion of cleared products.
  5. Work with sales representatives and the field distribution network to establish sales training programs necessary for the successful sale of product. Also oversees the development of hands on training for the sales force.
  6. Meet with surgeons, assist in surgeon evaluations and work with territory managers and the independent agents as required to support the sales of the company's products.
  7. Provide support at industry meetings, trade shows, sales school, national sales meetings and other training events as required.
  8. Establish and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships.
  9. Maintain appropriate communication within and between other business teams and functional units within the division to ensure that product direction, customer needs, sales and marketing strategy and operations are consistent with overall company objectives

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Masters degree - MBA
  • Five or more years of marketing experience with a medical device, pharmaceutical or biotech company
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong project management skills with proven success in leading teams
  • Prior experience in market management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and develop solutions for complex problems and trend analyses which shape business strategy
  • Successful history of leadership and management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of management
  • Desired candidates will have sales and marketing backgrounds in orthopedics and spine.
